Ambulances and Hearses

Red, yellow, and
green lights.
Ambulances storming across.
White, brown, and
black faces seen
through the tinted windows.
White, pink, and
green uniforms.
A bold plus sign, the hope against loss.

Pale grey and
white faces.
Black and white clothes
mixing friends and foes.
Timber caskets owing to the soil a soul.
The drivers of hearses paid
and they speed along.

Redness in the faces wetted
by the fall of the eyes.
The grave rests under covers
where love once lied.

The labor pushes boulders
as the crane cries.
The bird fattens up on its nest
for its chicks to one day fly.
The can opener breaks on the second try.

The spirit ascends with the angels soaring high.
